I went to New York last week. Duran Duran were appearing on the Jimmy Fallon show, and I got tickets to the taping. It was great fun, I would love to do it again sometime. Even if my favorite band wasn’t going to be on! Even without that, it was a fantastic trip. I spent lots of time with my best friend Tricia & her husband Henry. And as many times as I’ve been there, there’s never of shortage of things to do.
Here are some of my photos:
Entry to the German Expressionism exhibit at MoMA. No photography was allowed in the actual exhibit. Too bad, there was some great stuff.
One of my favorite Joseph Cornell boxes, which lives at MoMA. It’s called Taglioni’s Jewel Casket. If I had money, I would buy it.
An exhibit at MoMA called “Standard Deviations” about modern type. I love the word “hamburgefons,” I have no idea why, except that it sounds funny.
This board actually works, so a couple times a minute all the names and times change. Very cool.
LOVE this poster.
the 72nd St subway station, right outside the Dakota, where John Lennon & Yoko lived.
Alice’s Tea Cup
Magic wands and tutus are available at Alice’s if you find yourself in need of one.
The Mad Hatter for two. WAY more than enough.
Rainy evening in the Village
She’s a lovely girl.
The giant grey cat who lives at Bleecker St. Records. Calmly snoozing despite all the racket.
Don’t be a Fool!
Lunch at the Shake Shack!
Tricia & Henry on the bus.
We unexpectedly found ourselves on the scene of a giant pillow fight/flash mob in Union Square Park!
George Washington looks on, content in the knowledge that he fought for freedom from the British Empire so we could have giant pillow fights.
Union Square Greenmarket.
I don’t even know.
The Andy Warhol statue on Broadway near where the Factory used to be.
Someone had to comment!
Cute little sculptures all throughout the 14th St. subway station.
We also went to the American Museum of Natural History. I’ll put those photos in a separate post.
