I am Switzerland of the back porch.

I share my back porch with two other apartments. They each have a doormat. One has a skull & crossbones on it and says “Keep Out.” The other has a big sunflower on it and says, “Welcome Friends.”

I don’t have a doormat.

Another glitch in the system.

I just talked to my mom, and she had to pick up her copy of SemiBold at the post office because it had SEVENTEEN CENTS POSTAGE DUE.

I weighed it at the post office, it said, “81 cents” so I put 2 44-cent stamps on it, thinking that would be sufficient. But apparently not. It’s probably because it’s more square than rectangular, and the post office does not like irregularities.

I’ve already mailed them out to several people, so please accept my apologies if you have to make a special trip to the P.O. to pick it up.

*headdesk*

Anyway, my mom really liked it, so at least there’s that.

Later development: A Chicago friend reported receiving hers yesterday, even with only 2 stamps. So go figure.

SemiBold #10 now available!

Hello.

So I’m going to give this blog thing a whirl here.

Nothing too high-concept, just a place for me to write about what I’m thinking about. Topics may include (but are not limited to): music, art, books, fashion, creative projects, news of the world, city living, travel, cute animals and the randomnalia of everyday life. If you ever read and liked my zine SemiBold, you will probably feel at home here.

Controversial topics may come up from time to time, though probably not often. I welcome rational discussion from opposing points of view. Be respectful and play nice or I will block you. All comments are screened by me, so if you’re spamming or being a troll and/or an asshole they likely won’t see the light of day.

If you’re here, say hi!

-Kathy
